A person who sustained a bad injury looses a part of himself. The lost of a soul part is a spiritual disease causing psychic, emotional and physical distress.

Our model of psychological healing bases on a client lying on a couch actively rummaging in his past in order to uncover trauma which lies buried in his psyche deeply. However, Shamanism varies from psychotherapy drastically. Psychotherapy works with words, but this is not always enough for entire health to occur.

To explore the soul it must be at home completely. This is where the shaman comes in. Guided by his intention to retrieve the lost part of the patient's soul, the shaman journeys to the "non-ordinary reality". As soon as there is an encounter with the solitary soul part, it is the shaman's task to bring it back. By bringing back lost soul parts, the shaman can offer the psychotherapist the "whole" patient  with whom can be worked psychologically then. Thereby it is possible to achieve faster and profound results.

Root causes for the loss of a soul part
  • loss of beloved ones (death, separation)
  • injuries on soul, body and dignity (e.g. public expose in childhood)
  • violation of the child's sense of justice (be power- and defenseless)
  • experience of violence (e.g. assault, mugging, war)
  • child abuse
  • trauma (accident, surgery, abuse)
  • major illness
  • Nostalgia to a past phase of life that seems much more beautiful than the current one (to have the problem to let it go)
