With growing up and entry into the adult world, the spiritual understanding of our children gets suppressed. The power animal, companion since birth, gets fading.it.
If the power animal leaves the person entirely, a gap in the energetic circle arises (see Health / disease). The shaman is able to retrieve the lost power animal. Appropriate to the phase of life it may be another new animal spirit whose powers and properties are needed in the currently life situation.
Tasks of the power animal:

- source for the immun system
- features properties and fortitudes corresponding to one's own character abilities and potentials
- source of vitality
- accompanies and protects when travelling
- protects its protege, its family and home
- warns of danger
- announces events
- helps to master difficult situations
- gives anwers to questions
A power animal is something very private. Therefore, shamans usually never reveal the identity of their animal spirit.
