Words are power. Spoken once you can't take them back and make them vanish. They are irreversible.
Even in childhood we are conditioned negatively. Parents say: "Don't do that!" "Stop it!" "That is not allowed." "That's not right." Teachers underline mistakes with red pen, circle the incorrect word, highlight it. The boss or colleague critices us and emphasizes what's went wrong. The negative image stands like an exclamation mark in front of our inner eye and creates frustration and displeasure.
Helpful formulations are those that produce a positive image, a desirable behaviour or a desirable target. So parents say to their children: "You can do it like this." "This is well done." "That's how you shall do it." Teachers note the correct orthography in Red on the edge of the exercise book. The boss or the colleague says: "If you do it this way it will be successful."
Words are power. They generate emotions in others, but in myself also. To think positively doesn't mean that everything is beautiful and well. To think positively means changing my choice of words, putting myself into a happy mood, motivating myself.
An affirmation is defined as a positive statement, i.e. a favourable formulated sentence. Negative beliefs from the childhood, dogmas which lower the self-worth, we know well enough.
