A wonderful exercise to be with me completely.
I have five senses. With them I perceive my environment. Am I really doing this? How consciously do I feel, taste, see all the things around me at all? What is it that thrills me?
The five senses
I sit down on my yoga cushion. At this exercise with my mala, I think of at least five things for each of my senses. I go through my chain bead by bead and consider:
- Eyes: What do I like to see. When beam my eyes? What colors, patterns, flowers. Sunset, landscapes, nature, paintings and so on.
- Ears: What do I like to hear. What music, what tones or sounds. Waterfall, birds chirping, crickets chirping and so on.
- Nose: What do I like to smell. Which scents, aromas, flowers and so on.
- Tongue: What do I like to taste. What is my favorite dish, which drinks, which flavour aroma and so on.
- Fingers: What do I like to feel. What feels well under my fingers, what do I like to touch. Animal fur, velvet, grass, cool earth, hot sand, and so on.
But also: What do I like to feel on my own skin? To be petted. Water under the shower on my skin, silk fabric and so on.
